Adelante, a detrás

I arrived in Buenos Aires airport on Friday, June 26th after an exhausting plane ride. I have decided that plane rides are quite possibly the worst way to travel. Miami orientation was awful; the second day was all "free time" and we were not allowed to leave the hotel so we played sardines and just walked around randomly. After getting to our Buenos Aires "campsite" in a school in the suburbs, we quickly launched into a fun and helpful orientation. Later that night we had a talent show where some girls performed a tribute to Michael Jackson and did the Thriller dance- definitely one of the funniest moments of my life. We then had a dance party and we all learned some moves to show off in the discotecas! All the AFS staff were incredible dancers and I felt completely out of place with my lack of dance skills and lack of coordination. The next day we went on a tour of Buenos Aires and saw the Boca futbol stadium and went to interesting neighborhoods and touristy places of Buenos Aires. We then went to the bus station and got on our bus to Villa Dolores. This bus was the most comfortable moving vehicle I have ever been on- it was even better than first class on an airplane! We all freaked out about it and were so excited. When we got to Villa Dolores early this morning (Sunday June 28th) we were very excited and nervous to meet our host families. We got out and met everyone, and I found it very difficult to keep up with the Spanish! We went back to the house, hung out for a bit, had a delicious lunch of meat, mate and pasta, and then around five Mariana, Iris and I went to meet some friends and later go see Angels and Demons. We went to the park and then the "centro" where we accidentally met up with other AFS students and their host siblings. One of the kids in my AFS group apparently looks like Jacob Black from Twilight and everyone has started calling him that. Tomorrow we don't have school due to the elections and because of that we went to the cinema and saw Angels and Demons, which completely disregarded what Dan Brown wrote, so, naturally, I was very disappointed. All in all it's been a wonderful first day and I can't wait to see more of Villa Dolores. One of my goals for later on in life is to move to some town in Argentina and create a life here; it is so beautiful, lax and friendly. I love it here.
